Polyurethane

Polyurethane coating is a popular and effective way to protect hardwood floors from scratches, stains, and other forms of damage. This type of coating is applied as a liquid and then dries to form a tough and durable barrier on the surface of the wood. One of the main benefits of polyurethane coating on hardwood floors is its durability and resistance to wear and tear. This coating is able to withstand heavy foot traffic and other forms of daily use without showing signs of wear or damage. It also protects the hardwood from scratches, spills, and stains. Additionally, polyurethane coating also enhances the wood's natural beauty, it provides a glossy and smooth finish that can help to bring out the wood's natural grain and color.

Water-Based

Water-based polyurethane is a great option for protecting and enhancing your hardwood floors. It can be much more convenient as it dries faster, has low VOCs (volatile organic compounds), and produces minimal odors, making it a safer and more suitable choice for homeowners with children, pets, and time constraints in their move-in schedule. Water-based polyurethane is also non-yellowing, which means it won't alter the natural color of the wood or amber the stain color over time.

oil-Based

Oil-based polyurethane is known for its durability and strength, making it a good choice for heavy traffic areas or floors that are prone to scuffing and scratching. It can aid in hiding imperfections, scratches or dents, which can be especially useful for older or damaged floors. It is often recommended to use along with dark wood species such as cherry or mahogany as it can help to bring out the rich, natural colors and grain patterns.

Sheen Levels

The sheen level of a hardwood floor refers to how shiny or reflective it is. It is determined by the type of finish that is applied to the floor. There are several different sheen levels to choose from, ranging from matte (low shine) to high gloss (very shiny). When choosing the sheen level for your hardwood floors, consider the style of your home, your personal preference, and the level of maintenance you are willing to undertake.

MATTE

Matte finishes offer a natural, subtle appearance. They are a good choice for a casual, rustic look.

SATIN

Satin finishes have a shine that is a good balance between matte and gloss. They have a more polished look than matte finishes and are more resistant to wear and tear.

SEMI-GLOSS

Semi-gloss finishes are a happy medium between Satin and high gloss. They are a good choice for a more formal, elegant look and are also easier to clean and maintain.

HIGH GLOSS

High gloss finishes have a very shiny appearance and are the most reflective. They are a good choice for a modern, sleek look.
